This handbook introduces new and existing team members to how Nxt7a works – our mission, our expectations, and the practical terms of working here. It is a guide, not an employment contract; where it differs from your individual contract or from law, those prevail.
Applies to all employees, contractors and interns of Next Seven Again Pty Ltd (trading as Nxt7a), in all locations.
Who we are. Nxt7a builds AI-powered biodiversity intelligence – Earth Intelligence – on a seven-generations stewardship philosophy, centring Indigenous data sovereignty and traditional ecological knowledge. Everyone here is expected to understand and uphold this in how they work.
Our values. Four values guide how we work:
Our commitments. Our ESG commitments run across the environmental (measure, protect and restore biodiversity), social (equip First Nations peoples and local communities to participate and benefit equitably) and governance (operate transparently and ethically). The platform directly supports six UN Sustainable Development Goals – 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17. These commitments are detailed on the Purpose & Commitments page in the company OS.
Employment basics. Your terms – role, remuneration, hours, leave and notice – are set in your individual contract and underpinned by the National Employment Standards (NES) under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and any applicable Modern Award or enterprise agreement. The handbook does not override these.
Working arrangements. Nxt7a operates globally and supports flexible and remote work, wherever team members are based, while being incorporated in Australia. Core collaboration hours and meeting norms are maintained in the team operating guide on Confluence.
Systems & access. We run the business on a defined set of tools across finance, communication, documents, cloud, geospatial, marketing, creative, GTM, DevOps and AI – the full catalogue is the Core Systems page in the company OS. The essentials you'll use daily are Gmail and Google Calendar, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive), Slack for team chat, Jira and Confluence for tracking and knowledge, and the Nxt7a app itself. Most systems use single sign-on via your `@nxt7a.com` Google account; if a system prompts for a different login you may not have been granted access yet – raise an access request in Jira Service Management. All systems are for Next Seven Again Pty Ltd staff and contractors only, and their use is governed by the Acceptable Use & IT Policy and the AI Use Guidelines.
Leave. Annual leave, personal/carer's leave, compassionate leave, parental leave and public holidays follow the NES as a minimum. Request and approval routes are in the operating guide.
Standards of behaviour. All team members are bound by the Code of Conduct, the Work Health & Safety Policy, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy, and the Acceptable Use & IT Policy. Read them.
Confidentiality & IP. Company and client information, and intellectual property created in the course of your work, are governed by your contract and the Information Security and Data Classification policies. Indigenous knowledge and partner data carry additional obligations – see the Data Sharing & Indigenous Data Sovereignty Policy.
Performance & development. We run lightweight, regular check-ins rather than heavy annual reviews. Expectations, feedback and growth are discussed openly and continuously.
Leaving Nxt7a. Notice periods follow your contract and the NES. On exit, access is revoked per the Access Control Policy and company property and data are returned.
Serious or repeated breaches of the policies referenced here may lead to disciplinary action up to termination, conducted fairly and in line with the Whistleblower & Grievance Policy and Fair Work obligations.
Code of Conduct · WHS Policy · DEI Policy · Acceptable Use & IT Policy · Whistleblower & Grievance Policy · Privacy Policy.
Review note. The handbook references statutory entitlements; confirm against current Fair Work instruments and have legal review ([COO or delegate]) before adoption.
