Nxt7a is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for everyone, and to meeting its duties as a Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) and Regulation.
Applies to all workers – employees, contractors, interns and volunteers – across all work locations, including remote and home-based work, and to visitors at our premises.
Our commitment. So far as is reasonably practicable, Nxt7a will provide and maintain a safe working environment, safe systems of work, and the information, training and supervision needed to work safely.
Hazard and risk management. We identify hazards, assess risks and control them using the hierarchy of controls. Known risk areas for our work include: prolonged screen use and ergonomics; psychosocial hazards (workload, isolation in remote work); and – historically relevant to our ecological work – any field activity, which requires its own risk assessment before it occurs.
Remote and flexible work. Workers are responsible for maintaining a safe home workspace. Nxt7a provides ergonomic guidance and supports reasonable adjustments.
Psychosocial safety. We treat mental health and psychosocial risk as genuine WHS matters – managing workload, supporting reasonable hours, and maintaining a respectful culture (linked to the DEI and Code of Conduct policies).
Incidents. All injuries, illnesses, near-misses and hazards must be reported promptly. Notifiable incidents will be reported to SafeWork NSW as required by law, and the scene preserved where mandated.
Consultation. We consult workers on matters that affect their health and safety. Workers are encouraged to raise concerns without fear of reprisal.
Compliance is monitored through incident reporting, periodic review of the work environment, and worker feedback. Breaches of safe systems of work are addressed under the Code of Conduct. Serious matters are escalated to officers.
Employee Handbook · Code of Conduct · DEI Policy · Incident Response Policy (security incidents) · Field Activity Risk Assessment [to be created if field work resumes].
Review note. WHS duties are statutory and carry personal liability for officers. Confirm jurisdiction for each worker (NSW vs other states/UK), and have this reviewed by a WHS-competent adviser and counsel before adoption.
